Bugg DavisBorn in Memphis, TN and raised in Mississippi, Bugg writes poetry as a way of listening, remembering and understanding --- to give language to what might otherwise be lost. From a young age, her capacity for this has always been more than her body cold carry, but armed with a pen and pad she learned how to hone her craft. Today, writing remains a physical, emotional and spiritual necessity, but she is no longer just writing for herself. To Bugg, writing (and art in general) is a sustaining act that is part of a longer ancestral lineage, a responsibility, a conversation with those who came before her and those who will persist long after her. She writes from the landscape of what she knows --- of family, identity, queerness, and the emotional worlds that shape her everyday life, but also, she writes to understand the persistent chaos and wonder of life itself. Bugg will often be the person behind the camera, capturing memories and is always the person asking questions. She is an endless cavern of curiosity. She is ordered chaos, ritualistic about silk and has an uncanny ability to make people feel seen and understood. She is an old-soul with child-like wonder and thus radiates like the sun in any room or space she's in but isn't afraid to dive into the depths. She is fiercely loyal to those she is bonded to and loves with her entire being, she does not do anything half-way. Bugg's poetry is a complete reflection of who she is as a person, as if to say, "look, here I am, take it or leave it". 333-Written by a friend, just a friend Read More Read Less
