Shepherd was in the very first graduating class from Institute for Creation Research's School of Biblical Apologetics, earning a Master of Christian Education degree, with a joint major in Biblical Education and Apologetics, and a triple minr in Genesis Studies, Creation Research, and Biblical Humanities (summa cum laude, 2011). He graduated from Texas A & M University (1981) with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He is also a life member of the Dean Burgon Society and on the Advisory Council.
