Brian Charles BurkeBrian Burke was an undergraduate at Harvard and a graduate student at the University of Michigan and Bryn Mawr College, earning a master's and a doctoral degree in the Classics. He teaches Latin, Greek, and English and follows paths of the classical radition. These paths have led him into various aspects of language and especially the history of friendship. Collecting objects illustrating customs of meeting and greeting has culminated in WINNING THE HEART OF AMERICA. He lives in Philadelphia and cultivates an interest in its history.
