Those early impressions formed the seedbed for his debut series of novels set on the Great Plains of North America. After moving to Canada in 1972, he attended the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. It was there that he met the great love of his life, Satguna ('Sat') Devi, who inspired and encouraged him up until her untimely death in 2019.
