Basil CreightonBasil Creighton (May 19, 1885-May 3, 1989) was an acclaimed novelist and translator of German authors. Along with his original novels, including Medner Hill Farm and The Leaden Cupid, Creighton made many classics of German literature accessible to Enlish audiences. Other than producing the first English edition of The Storm of Steel, his major translations included Der Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre by B. Traven.
