She is a native New Yorker living in Little Neck, Queens, with her two children and husband. The Adventures of Roy and Orange: Learning to Listen is herfirst book. The tale began as a bedtime story for her children to keep them engaged and listening. After telling them the story, her son continued to ask about repeatedly about Roy and Orange, so she decided to write it down and pursue publishing. She hopes the book will entertain children and parents, alike, as Roy gets himself into heaps of trouble while grocery shopping. Orange, his dinosaur friend goes along to shop and learns the importance of following the rules and speaking up for himself. Through whimsical illustrations, we see how the two manage to solve this dilemma, accompanied by Eric the elephant and Orange's mom. Ms. Castro plans to write more books in the series.
