B. L. N. KennettBrian Kennett is a Professor in the Seismology Group at the Research School of Earth Sciences, The Australian National University, and Deputy Director of the Australian National Seismic Imaging Resource Research Facility. Professor Kennett's researchinterests involve the development of interpretational techniques for seismic records, with the object of extracting detailed information about the nature of the seismic velocity distribution within the Earth, and the character of seismic sources. He is currently President of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior (IASPEI)}, and was Vice-President from 1991-1999. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the Australian Academy of Sciences, and an Associate of the Royal Astronomical Society. Professor Kennett was an Editor of Geophysical Journal International from 1979-1999, and since 1985 has been an Associate Editor of Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors. He is the author of Seismic Waves in Stratified Media (1983; Cambridge University Press), compiler of the IASPEI 1991 Seismological Tables, and over 160 research papers. Read More Read Less
