Audrey K Bowes
Audrey K. Bowes began writing fiction because fiction told the truth she couldn't find the words for from the pulpit. After decades of adhering to her belief system, she finally had to admit that the faith she had been promoting to others no longe aligned with the one she lived. Leaving the ministry and embarking on her journey of self-discovery and spiritual truth wasn't a crisis of faith; it was a crisis of certainty within her faith system. In the chasm that was left, she discovered that she finally had room to breathe.
Her stories are populated with people like her: those that loved the church and have been wounded by it, people who still believe in something but don't know what to call it anymore, and people who are finding their way back to faith through the small, sacred work of feeding others, making coffee, taking phone calls, making amends, tending gardens, and telling the truth even when it costs everything.
With their children grown, she lives in North Carolina with her own twilight sprites and her best friend of three decades: her husband, Lucky. Her greatest joy is a full house... her children and their spouses drifting into the house without knocking, and settling into their familiar spots on the couches for silly group games they created themselves or long, meandering conversations no one wants to end. She considers them her greatest good in this world and is grateful that they don't just love her, they truly see her. When she's not writing, you'll likely find her with a controller in hand, yelling at the screen, while adventuring through New Vegas or Tamriel.
Oh, and she still believes in forgiveness and even a saving grace. She just practices it without boundaries, now.
