ArrianArrian, born around 86 AD in Nicomedia (modern-day Turkey), was a Greek historian, philosopher, and statesman. He came from a wealthy family with Roman citizenship, which helped him rise in the Roman administration. As a young man, he studied under te Stoic philosopher Epictetus and later recorded his teachings in the Discourses and Enchiridion.His political and military career thrived under Emperor Hadrian, who appointed him to key positions. He served as consul around 130 AD and later became governor of Cappadocia.
