Anton de KomCornelis Gerard Anton de Kom was a Surinamese resistance fighter. His only book, We Slaves of Suriname, made him a prominent anti-colonialist author. He was part of the Dutch resistance and the Communist Party in The Hague after the German occupationof the Netherlands in 1940. He died after being sent to a German concentration camp in 1945.
