Ann VachonAnn Vachon was a dancer before she wrote. After graduating from the Juilliard School she became a memberof the José Limón Dance Company. The company traveled all over South and Central America and the FarEast under the direction of the State Departmet, and also in Russia, Greece, Egypt, France, Spain, and theUnited States. She danced for 13 years, including three years after Limón died. In 1975 she left the companyto concentrate on her own choreography. After teaching at Webster College, she moved to Philadelphia andtaught at Temple University for 27 years. She formed a company, Dance Conduit, and created many newworks for them. She also included works by Limón and Doris Humphrey, his teacher. These were dances shecreated by her reference to silent films that had been made - but without music.She studied poetry with Frank O'Hara, Louise Bogan, and Allen Ginsberg, and published poems invarious small magazines. She collected her father's photographs and his letters to her mother, including anafterword by her, and Poland 1946 was published by the Smithsonian Institute. With her son Malachi asdirector, she produced Limón; A Life Beyond Words, which was well received by PBS and won prizes at manyfilm festivals. In 2002 she became Director of the Limón Foundation.
