His first mystery novel, When It's Time for Leaving, was a finalist for the Agatha Award, and his short fiction has appeared in numerous award-winning anthologies. A past recipient of the Mystery Writers of America's Helen McCloy Award, Ang is the co-founder of Crime Spell Books and co-editor of the Best New England Crime Stories anthology.
