Anant Singh

ANANT SINGH was born and raised in Durban. He is recognised as South Africa’s pre-eminent film producer, having produced more than 100 films over four decades, from the mid-1980s to the present. Some of these include Place of Weeping, The Stick, Cy, the Beloved Country, Sarafina!, the AIDS-awareness film Yesterday (South Africa’s first Oscar-nominated film) and, in 2013, the multi-award-winning Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He is the founder and CEO of the Videovision Entertainment Group and chair of Cape Town Film Studios. He is a member of the International Olympic Committee, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He
is the recipient of many accolades, including the World Economic Forum’s Crystal Award, and is the first man to receive the International Women’s Forum Legacy Award.
