Alexander TvardovskyAlexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky (1910-1971) was a Soviet writer and journalist. As chief editor of Novy Mir from1950 to 1970 he was responsible for publishing Ehrenburg’s The Thaw and Solzhenitsyn's One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. He won theStalin Prize in 1941, 1946 and 1947 and the Lenin Prize in 1961. He was member of the Directorate of the Soviet Writers Union and a candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
