Abigail Larkin
Growing up, I strongly disliked history. It was boring, and I thought, Why bother with dusty stories from the past?
Even worse, I loathed all manner of grammar, reading, or writing. It was immaterial and a hatred of words hastily relaced the notion of literary adventures.
So, naturally, I've become a children's novelist who leans into historical fiction and magical world-building!
As an adult, I think back to my younger self and question, from a parental perspective, Would I be proud of my homeschooled daughter?
After several years of consideration, I can truthfully say I would.
With each page, chapter, and novel I write, I continue to learn.
It took me years to solidify the simple truth--that life, whether it be mine or those of my characters, will never be perfect.
Our mistakes and errors make us human, and all we can do is ascend toward the forever rising bar of greatness.
