JanoschBorn in 1931 in Zaborze, a miners' settlement on the Polish border. After a short schooling, Janosch worked in a metalworking shop and forge, later he worked in textile factories and in a textile weaving mill. In 1953 he went to Munich, where he studed at the Academy of Fine Arts, but had to abandon his studies after a few trial semesters due to “lack of talent”.
