About the Book

This volume provides a state-of-the-art on logic synthesis and design, with an emphasis on the synthesis area. Main topics covered include DSP, layout, simulation, verification and testing. It is based on work presented at the October 1990 meeting in Kyoto, Japan, under the heading "Synthesis and Simulation Meeting and Interchange". All contributions have been refereed and edited. The volume contains contributions from leading international experts in the VLSI Computer Aided Design community.

Table of Contents:
Part 1 Logic synthesis: new directions in logic synthesis, R.K. Brayton; Hewlett-Packard logic synthesis, B. Culbertson and B. Shackleford; logic synthesis expert system using a structured knowledge representation, N. Matsumoto and T. Nishiyama; lexicographical expression of Boolean function for multilevel synthesis of high speed circuits, P. Abouzeid et al; extraction of arithmetic functions expressible by polynomial-size binary decision diagrams, N. Ishiura and S. Yajima; the role of don't care co-ordination in synchronous logic optimization, M. Damiani and G. De Micheli.
