About the Book

Over the last decade computerization has truly revolutionized structural engineering, attracting the attention of theoreticians, mathematicians and engineers to the problems of elastic and inelastic analysis of space structures. Lattice plates and shells, which are used at present in various engineering areas, are one of the progressive construction systems. The wide assortment of rolled profiles made of steel and aluminium, the elaboration of a broad range of details related to joints, permitting the interconnection of spatially oriented bars in a single node, have opened the way to the widespread application of these structures. However, new computation methods and procedures have to be continuously developed so that their application can become as general as possible, and suitable for algorithmization and utilizable with present-day computing techniques. This work focuses mainly on the analysis of the structure systems of regular lattice plates and shells, investigating their static, dynamic and stability behaviour, as well as problems related to their optimum design by present-day computation methods.
