About the Book

This book is developed from papers presented at a meeting of the IATEFL Special Interest Group on testing. It takes up the major themes for language testing in the 1990s, dealing with both theoretical and practical issues, and drawing on the expertise of most major British practitioners. It constitutes an overview comparable to that provided by the highly successful ELT Document III, published by the British Council a decade ago, and should provide a starting point for discussion of language testing in the 1990s.

Table of Contents:

Carroll; response to Brendan Carroll's paper - "Resistance to Chance", Don Porter; affective factors in language testing, Don Porter; response to Don Porter's paper - "Affective Factors in Language Testing", Brendan J.
