Derek Rowland is a civil engineer, children's book author, and proud girl dad. He lives in Colorado with his wife, three high-speed daughters, and their fluffy (and famously stinky) dog, Hamish.Growing up with two brothers, Derek never imagined his future would involve dance recitals, gymnastics meets, or late-night cello practice, but he wouldn't have it any other way. Inspired by the wild energy and nonstop creativity of his real-life daughters, he created Full Speed Sisters, a book series that celebrates modern girlhood through adventure, problem-solving, and heart.By day, Derek manages heavy construction projects; by night, he's wrangling homework, shuttling kids around, and sketching out the next story idea. He considers himself an amateur artist and a passionate advocate for helping kids, especially girls, see themselves as builders, thinkers, leaders, and dreamers.When he's not writing or chasing Hamish around the backyard, you'll find Derek with his wife exploring Colorado's trails, drinking too much coffee, and making last-minute Target runs before ski practice.
