About the Book

This is a story about Gaea Pender, a psychic medium, and her experiences with dark magic, witches, and spirits as she navigates life at the University of Maine in Orono. The narrative unfolds with Gaea's family dynamics, her academic pursuits, and her interactions with friends, particularly her boyfriend Marc and her new roommate Himiko. As the story progresses, Gaea learns about a Grimoire, a book of dark magic that holds significant power and is sought after by malevolent forces, including a Night Witch. The Grimoire is revealed to be linked to a ghost named Douglas Blanchard, a former pianist who died in the restaurant that Gaea's sister, Vicky, plans to open. The ghost's spirit becomes protective of the restaurant, and Gaea and her friends feel its presence. Gaea Pender: A 22-year-old psychic medium who struggles with her abilities while attending university. Marc Broussard: Gaea's boyfriend, a meteorology student from Quebec, who often provides comic relief and support. Himiko Aoki: Gaea's roommate, a witch with a deep understanding of the occult, who becomes an ally in Gaea's quest. Throughout the narrative, Gaea grapples with her psychic abilities and the challenges posed by the supernatural elements surrounding her. She faces threats from the Night Witch and a necromancer, both of whom seek the Grimoire for their own nefarious purposes. As the story reaches its climax, Gaea, Marc, and Himiko face off against the Night Witch and the necromancer. They navigate through various challenges, including Gaea's growing abilities and the dark forces at play. Ultimately, the narrative emphasizes the importance of friendship, family, and the struggle against evil forces. The story concludes with Gaea and her friends preparing for the Winter Solstice Festival, where they hope to find allies who can help them deal with the Grimoire and the Night Witch. The themes of courage, loyalty, and the battle between light and dark permeate the narrative, leaving readers eager for the next installment in the series. As the characters gather for Christmas, the sense of community and love among them shines through, despite the looming threats from the supernatural world. The atmosphere is filled with warmth and celebration, contrasting sharply with the dark undertones of the story. The Grimoire serves as a central plot device, representing the conflict between good and evil. Gaea and her friends work to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. They devise a plan to hide the book in the ocean to keep it safe from the Night Witch.
