About the Book

The way we work is changing-fast. You're probably already feeling it. Maybe you're showing up every day to a job that drains more than it fulfills. Maybe you've built a solid career on paper but feel that something is missing. Or maybe the rapid rise of AI has you concerned about what's coming next. You're not alone. And the answer isn't to work harder or chase titles. It's to find work that you truly enjoy and is the right match for your values and skills. In this book, you learn how internal barriers such as outdated beliefs, self-doubt, negative internal talk, and fear of failure can keep you from living the life you were meant to live. You discover how to manage the emotional obstacles that limit your career growth and development.

Wayne Nemeroff is an industrial/organizational psychologist who has spent decades helping people, from front-line workers to Fortune 500 executives, deal with change and increase their effectiveness by understanding themselves better and maximizing their capabilities. What he has seen is that most people don't struggle at work because they lack technical skills. They're unhappy because they don't find their work to be meaningful or fulfilling.

In Shift, Nemeroff introduces a practical, proven framework built around seven core capabilities and 21 essential soft skills - the very skills AI cannot replicate and that will only grow more valuable as technology evolves.

Through real stories, practical insights, and actionable tools, Shift helps you identify work that provides genuine meaning and purpose, develops essential soft skills, and builds the confidence needed to stop waiting for someone else to change your situation.

The future of work is already shifting. For those who are ready, it is full of possibilities. Be proactive and take responsibility for creating your own future.

IT'S TIME TO SHIFT.
