What the Lake Knows is a gripping and page-turning mystery. One of those books that pulls you in from the very beginning, causing the book to be on your mind even when it's not in your hands. The author does an incredible job with the character build outs. As the reader, I felt connected to the main characters immediately. The main characters' chemistry was solid yet subtle, causing the reader to lean in even more. The visual imagery that the author provides within her narrative style allowed me to create the world inside of my head, resulting in a more complex and enjoyable reading experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I read it in two days, and I cannot wait until her next book!

I just finished What the Lake Knows, and it stayed with me long after the final page. The atmosphere of Pine Valley [Reservoir] and the slowly emerging drowned town was beautifully written and incredibly vivid. Emily Warren felt like a real, relatable character, and her curiosity about Clara Jennings' disappearance kept me turning pages. I loved how the story explored memory, loyalty, and the hidden truths small towns often carry. The pacing builds steadily, revealing pieces of the mystery at just the right moments. If you enjoy thoughtful mysteries with emotional depth and a haunting setting, this book is definitely worth reading.
