About the Book

Drum rudiments actually explained. Consult this Field Guide to improve your drumming by learning and mastering fifty logically paced rudimental patterns from the Single Stroke to the Shirley Murphy. Includes NARD and PAS standards plus a few of the most common Hybrid and international selections. More than just a list of names and cryptic symbols, each rudiment is described in detail with counting numbers and syllables, clear sticking, alternative notation styles, indication of the basic strokes, targeted exercises, and skill builders. Multiple rhythmic, metric, or denominational options are given, as well as synonymous, historic, or foreign naming conventions, geographic origin, publication history, and other interesting facts where available. Useful for beginner to advanced students of orchestral and wind band percussion, drum kit, rudimental snare, or world percussion wanting to develop or enhance their skills and widen their understanding of drum rudiments and hand technique.
