About the Book

In a web of genealogy, murder, and karma, Rosalind Schmidt, the sole survivor of her family, uncovers a dark ancestral secret.

Fate turns sinister when she finds a co-worker dead and suspicion points directly at her. As she wakes from restless dreams of her ancestors, Rosalind questions her sanity. Are these glimpses remnants of past lives or echoes of a karmic destiny? When Rosalind learns of a long-lost relative connected to a haunting murder, she turns amateur sleuth to track two killers and unravel her bloodline.

With two unsolved murders bearing down on her, she must dig deep to uncover hidden truths.

Rosalind races to unearth the secrets within her ancestral roots. Will she untangle her family history and clear her name? Her survival hinges on a race against time. Can she live long enough?

"Dead Reckoning" explores the interconnectedness of generations, the relentless pursuit of justice, and the chilling consequences of a legacy steeped in darkness as Rosalind unearths the truth and confronts the ancestral forces that exhaust her existence.

About the Author :
Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski has been chasing stories since childhood-first as a wide-eyed kid who noticed she had fewer grandparents than her friends, and later as a passionate genealogist determined to uncover the voices of those who came before her. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong adventure of piecing together family mysteries, connecting the past to the present, and sharing the magic of history through her writing.Armed with a Journalism/Marketing degree from Marquette University, Anna began her career in newspaper advertising. But after moving to sunny Arizona, her fascination with family history came roaring back. What began as research soon became a calling-leading her to publish six books, contribute to multiple anthologies, and inspire readers to discover and preserve their own ancestral stories. Her German roots run deep: on her father's side, to the Russian villages of Mariental and Louis; on her mother's, to Reinwald, Rosenfeld am Nachoi, and Balzer, with many lines tracing back to their Germanic origins as early as 1699. When she's not researching or writing, you'll likely find her enjoying a plate of grebel (fried dough) and celebrating gemütlichkeit-the cozy joy of heritage and community.Anna is the author of: - Dead Reckoning, A Rosalind Schmidt Genealogical Mystery- The Adventures of Konrad the Kamel: Wanderlust- Maggie Visits Grandpa and Maggie Visits Argentina- Value Meals on the Volga- Grebel and Gemütlichkeit- and a contributor to Journeys to Authorship: How Wannabe Writers Can Realize Their Publishing Dreams and SoWest: Danger, A Desert Sleuths AnthologyDiscover more at annabartkowski.com and sign up for her blog updates.
