About the Book

Can he learn The Truth About Demons before it's too late? It's the gritty 1970s in Levittown, Pennsylvania and young Cameron's life teeters between terror and sanctuary. With his only refuge the local library, he faces a neighborhood psychopath, brutal family tragedy, and a demon-obsessed mother in the grips of an apocalyptic cult. When Cam turns eighteen, the doomsday cult tightens its grip, and his journey spirals into homelessness, drugs and alcohol, and the violent criminal underworld of 1980s New Jersey and Philadelphia. Of all the demons that haunt us, the ones we inherit are the hardest to kill. Witty, funny and fierce, The Truth About Demons is a relentless rollercoaster of heartbreak and hope, featuring larger-than-life characters that could easily grace a movie screen. Amid shattered dreams, and haunting events is a deeply moving, coming-of-age story packed with plenty of laughs, some tears, and enough heart to make even the demons blush.

About the Author :
Cameron Gilchrist is an author residing in San Diego, California, a far cry from the suburbs of Philadelphia where he grew up. Through the years, Cameron had multiple ventures including owning and running an art gallery, an entertainment company, a video production company and a career in solution engineering.Cameron fell in love with books at an early age and he credits the public library and its story-laden shelves for giving him the courage to persist through the dark times. When not herding words into some semblance of order, Cameron can be found pretending to play guitar or perfecting a stand-up routine that will most likely never see a stage.

Review :
"...incisive, visceral honesty...rich with sensory description, insightful...reminding readers that there's always joy to be found, even in life's darkest moments." -- KIRKUS REVIEWS "The Truth About Demons is a raw and often darkly humorous memoir of survival, identity, and the crushing weight of belief systems that promise salvation but deliver only fear. Gilchrist's tale is a testament to resilience, the power of questioning, and the freedom in finding your own truth when everyone around you is preaching theirs." -- Lara Love Hardin, NYT Bestselling Author, The Many Lives of Mama Love (Oprah's Book Club) "Highlighting the power of love, loyalty, and literature, Cam's powerful memoir is riveting, life-affirming, and just plain brilliant." -- Anne Moose, Author - Arkansas Summer "The book was captivating, exhilarating and heartwarming. I enjoyed reading how his life unfolded and took inspiration from his tenacity, resilience all while keeping his sense of humor. The book is a master class in knowing where you came from is not always where you belong. I am excited to see where this new chapter takes him." -- Jill Strickland Brown, Author - Behind the Button "Inspiring. Heartwarming. Emotional. The Truth About Demons is hard to put down, a story of an almost unbelievable rollercoaster of a life." -- Amy Zimmerman, AZ Communications "A riveting, can't-put-it-down trip. Juggles multiple themes-all with a very personal angle from a main character who is easy to root for. A wide cast of complex characters show the breadth of human potential: from cruelty to kindness. Engaging story. Brilliantly written." -- Robert Schmidt, Director UCSD "In The Truth About Demons, Cameron Gilchrist takes us on an eerie journey, through the hidden dangers and demons of a familiar and seemingly benign landscape, demonstrating the uncommon resilience that proved his redemption" -- Rick Shaughnessy
