The day before his transfer back to the war in Vietnam Dex learned the true cause of his parents' deaths - not in an accident, as he had been told, but as victims of a hit-and-run. A drunk driver killed his father outright and dragged his mother screaming along the road until she bounced, broken, out behind the car. The politically connected drunk didn't stop, and though positively identified, was never charged. He didn't even lose his license.
Back in country, Dex was captured by the Viet Cong, tortured, then escaped, and, his tour-of-duty having ended, was released from the Marine Corps.
Finally, he was free to seek justice for his parents-and his unborn sibling. While planning his moves Dex found that the wife of the drunk was even worse-a pedophile who preyed on young girls. Together they collected damning videos of his associates and peers which gave him an edge, if needed, to remain above the law.
Justice was coming, but it wouldn't be easy. The perps were protected by their privilege, plus a pair of real brutes-Bruce and Betty. Dex had to go through them first, then remain invisible to crooked law enforcement who sided with the drunk.
Assisted by Aiko, his lover and Yakuza assassin, and Nuyen Vu, a former Vietnamese guerrilla fighter, Dex is ready.
He learns that human trafficking is rampant. The extent of child abuse for sex and domestic slavery is ubiquitous-a sad commentary on the inhumanity of man. The weakest, most-vulnerable who are preyed upon by the sick, politically-connected, soon find a champion in the exceptionally gifted former marine, the beautiful Aiko and grizzled Vu.
The exposure of the vile underbelly of society is especially timely today. Seeking 'Payback', Dex travels the globe. Along the way he finds tender romance while meting out savage retribution.
This story is rich in violence, adventure and romance-and is right out of today's headlines. Hang on for a wild ride!
