About the Book

This book is based on three simple premises. The first is that people are happier and more productive when they work together, help each other, and admit and work on eliminating mistakes. The second is that there is such a thing as an organizational brain. What makes us smart is our cellular connections not the number of neurons. What makes organizations smart is not the number of people they employ, but how well and how frequently they are connected. The more constant the making of connections in our brain, helps it remain plastic and resilient. The more quality connections in an organization the more resilient the organization and the faster it can solve problems. The third premise is that the better an organization plugs into its external environment and the faster it reacts to changes in that environment, the better it copes with turbulence and uncertainty. There is a link between learning, engagement, community, and organizational success. A successful organization, now and in the future, is a learning organization. Work and learning are inextricably linked.

About the Author :
Dr. Nigel Paine has been involved in corporate learning for over 20 years. He has produced learning software and award-winning multi-media materials and has offered development and support to public and private sector companies, large and small. As head of the BBC's learning and development operation, he created a brand new onboarding programme, a comprehensive leadership scheme for over 6,000 staff, and state-of-the-art informal learning and knowledge-sharing network. He left the BBC to start his own company that is focused on building more effective workplaces by promoting learning, creativity, innovation, and value-based leadership and the link between them, speaking at conferences, leading workshops and working with companies in Europe, Brazil, Australia and the United States. He recently completed his doctorate, focussing on the future directions of L&D. He is the former co-academic director of the CLO Doctoral Program at the University of Pennsylvania, which he helped establish.

Review :
"Nigel Paine knows organizational learning inside out. The Great Reset: Unpacking the Power of Organizational Learning fills a desperately needed gap at a time when old approaches to building organizational capability, resilience, and excellence no longer work. In today's world, teams are the atomic units that drive organizational success. Nigel Paine steps beyond the usual perimeter of individual learning and into team and organizational learning as the engines of success. In this book, Paine sets a new benchmark for leadership, HR, and learning professionals to work towards." Charles Jennings, Partner, Strategy and Performance- Tulser Global "I am always inspired and encouraged by Nigel's work. His approach is thorough because he is so boldly curious, and this book is no exception. In "The Great Reset: Unpacking the Power of Organizational Learning", Nigel pulls together years of experience, research, case studies and reflections. It is an important book in which Nigel makes the case for leveraging the collective in organizations." Dr. Celine Mullins, CEO, Adaptas Ltd. "Whether it comes to his client work, his research or his writing: Nigel always delivers! And he does it again in this book. In "The Great Reset", Nigel emphasizes the need to focus on organizational learning. To build organisations where people connect and learn together, where knowledge and experience flow through the organisation. So that your organisation accomplishes sustainable growth and is ready to face any external and internal changes. For anyone who has read earlier work from Nigel, you know you can expect that it is packed with research, case studies, and practical insights. It is a must-read for anyone navigating today's fast-changing business world." Henriette Kloots, Senior L&D consultant
