JACOB - A Denouement in One Act is for anyone who has ever wondered, "What about poor, old Jacob Marley?" JACOB travels over time and space to sew up loose ends and answer this question about Ebenezer Scrooge's former partner and ghostly visitor. Written as a book within a book - a found manuscript - JACOB merges reality with the fantastical to tell a tale of friendship, redemption, and great, good cheer. It serves also as an homage to Charles Dickens' timeless classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL

My son asked me what happened to the Marley brothers after their appearance to Scrooge (The Muppets Christmas Carol, hence the Marleys plural). This play provides the answer - an imaginative look at the fate of Jacob Marley. It has a great structure and is faithful to the writing style of Dickens. I really enjoyed the redemptive story and the way it ties together the loose ends of the original. It made me wonder if Dickens left that thread hanging to make us ponder our own fates.
Can't wait for our group discussion! The printed book is a beautiful green with gilt lettering and illustrations!

I really loved the idea behind this book. And it is executed wonderfully. My favourite kind of stories are those of redemption and hope, this one doesn't dissapoint.
The book starts with a woman discovering an old play in a second hand shop. And then goes on to present the play for us to read and hearin lies the story of Jacob. It has such a wonderful Christmassy theatrical feel to it, I would love to see it performed.

If you love A Christmas Carol like I do, then I have a real treat for you! This beautiful little play by the amazing K. A. Schultz is a perfect sequel to Charles Dickens' famous story.
Poor Jacob Marley gets the short end of the stick in the original story, and this pursues a more joyful ending for someone who instigated so much good.
Beautifully written, there were so many profound passages. It had an almost Shakespearean feel to it.
This was the perfect little book to get me in the mood for Christmas and A Christmas Carol
