About the Book

Plunged into a prolonged blackout by back-to-back hurricanes, America's East Coast suffers sweltering heat, lack of food, and the beginnings of civil unrest. As Empire Energy struggles to repair its storm-damaged grid, it discovers a bigger problem: sophisticated malware has been ravaging its internal control network for weeks. As power returns, the human toll of the outage becomes clear. Thousands of elderly and chronically ill citizens have succumbed to the heat. While the public rejoices at the return of air conditioning, fresh food and cell service, Empire Energy and federal investigators become increasingly worried. The elusive malware taking over Empire's internal networks doesn't behave like any they've seen before. Who put it there? And why? Working independently, a persistent federal investigator and a lone hacker piece together the outlines of a plot whose effects will be far more destructive than the storms. The public is in no condition to endure another disaster, but the plot's trigger is imminent. Can two sharp minds working on opposite sides of the law unite in time to avert a catastrophe?

Review :
A chillingly plausible conspiracy thriller... Diamond has a brilliant sense of how to create genuine peril through realistic dialogue and plausible settings, and this results in a taut, intelligent techno-thriller that combines disaster fiction with razor-sharp social commentary... It's also a story that lingered in my mind long after reading it... Grid Zero is a realistic, thought-provoking, and terrifyingly timely drama that I would highly recommend for fans of speculative thrillers. - K.C. Finn, Readers' Favorite [A] relatable, megawattage cyberthriller that's worthy of 1970s-era spinner-rack pulp fiction, brought up to date with sharp characterization; skillful, cinematic cross-cutting; and timely infusions of paranoia and modern-day terrorism. - Kirkus Reviews This book will draw you in and you'll have a difficult time letting go. Make sure you save it for a long weekend. - Lynn H / NetGalley If you're into quick witted cyber thrillers with morally messy characters, you'll love this. It's about a rogue hacker trying to stop a terrorist attack on the power grid while a federal agent is hunting him down-and it's up to you to decide who the good guy is. - Michelle B / NetGalley Riveting, edge of your seat action and suspense. - Julie C / NetGalley For those who love mystery or cyber thrillers with a realistic and terrifying plot, Grid Zero will be an absolute delight! - Feathered Quill Book Review Diamond has cooked up an immersive gem. The investigation is captivating, but the details of a civilization in crisis make the entire experience superb. The culmination is a brilliant cyber-disaster thriller-with an intimate love story coded into the chaos. - BestThrillers.com Diamond creates a fine series of intersecting personalities and purposes... Libraries that appreciate realistic novels of survival, psychological change, and suspense will want to consider Grid Zero for any collection where apocalyptic scenarios are of interest. Book clubs will find many circumstances provoke topics and perspectives that divert from the usual focus on man made or natural disaster alone. Vivid and psychologically and socially astute, Grid Zero proves hard to put down. - Diane Donovan, Midwest Book Review Andrew Diamond has created compelling characters and a plausible threat to the power grid. It is easy to imagine the desperation of people trapped in this scenario. He ratchets up the tension to keep you racing to the finale. For those who like their apocalyptic thrillers with a touch of "Oh no, that could happen!" Guaranteed to keep you thinking long after you finish. - Kathy Z / NetGalley I found this book to be a very interesting read with many intriguing facets to it-power blackouts, computer viruses, budding romance and one of the most despicable characters in literature (Ray Cooper.) The characters are well defined and the reader actually feels as if he/she knows them. - Howard D / NetGalley I absolutely loved Danielle's bubbly personality & some of the things she said had me laughing out loud! I also loved her dynamic with Sean. - Chantéll G / NetGalley Absolutely loved Danielle, I think we would get on well. - NetGalley Reviewer
