About the Book

A compelling tale of love, loyalty, betrayal, and danger! When Mark "Russ" Russell returns to Washington, D.C., eager to prove himself after two failed Foreign Service postings, he lands a job at the prestigious Office of Strategic Services, where he learns that even the most straightforward mission can go dreadfully wrong. His personal life is also in turmoil: his fiancée, Piper, becomes increasingly unstable while awaiting a transfer from her post in Kuwait, and Russ wonders if he really knows his bride-to-be. Meanwhile, Russ's first love, Rhonda, has also embarked on a new career-as an intelligence officer in Switzerland. But when she identifies an Abwehr agent willing to exchange crucial information, she quickly learns that her source may bring more trouble than she bargained for. As Russ, Rhonda, and Piper struggle to navigate their own personal and professional challenges, they soon realize that their very survival hangs in the balance. Set against the backdrop of World War II, An Ocean Between combines espionage, suspense, drama, and romance in a page-turning story that's both gripping and deeply rewarding.

Review :
David Tanner's immersive historical fiction novel blends elements of romantic suspense, espionage, and emotional drama. ... With emotional depth that feels rich and organic, even readers entering mid-series can slip into the maze of characters and their unique backstories with relative ease. A bittersweet story of hearts in sync yet never in step, An Ocean Between blends spycraft, bad-news telegrams, and love stretched thin by time, distance, and war. - Nicky Flowers, Indies Today (5 stars, Recommended Read) An Ocean Between by David Tanner is a fantastically written historical and military novel that pulls together intelligence, relationships, and the suspense of war in this second installment of the Russ and Rhonda Trilogy. ... The book's careful structure and thoughtful character interactions are what make it a believable wartime suspense, and when it is tied in with secrecy, loyalty, and uncertain futures, it's a thrilling and deeply rewarding read. Very highly recommended. - Asher Sayed for Readers' Favorite (5 stars) Author David Tanner has so much enthusiasm for the period, and that's clear from every page of this richly layered wartime narrative packed with emotional and political stakes. ... I would certainly recommend An Ocean Between for fans of Second World War fiction who are looking for new perspectives and emotions to explore in that era, and historical fiction fans in general seeking well-penned dramatic epics. - K.C. Finn for Readers' Favorite (5 stars) Trapped in an endless quest for love, the characters bring out the duplicitous nature of humans. There is betrayal, love affairs, assassination, secrets, deceit, adventure, a splash of drama, suspense, and more. Lovers of slow-burn historical event/era novels with a touch of espionage and romantic intrigue will find David Tanner's An Ocean Between an enthralling read. - Keith Mbuya for Readers' Favorite (4 stars)
