About the Book

Discover 52 weekly strategies to help learners develop and practice the organizational and task management skills they need in order to achieve success at school and beyond.

Learners are not born with executive function skills but rather with the potential to develop them, and different learners require different strategies. In this book, four inclusive learning experts show how to design educational experiences that meet the needs of each individual learner, empowering them to break down tasks, manage time and study effectively.

When developing executive function strategies, learners benefit from explicit instruction, including discussions about what works and what doesn't. This book offers strategies in five key areas: planning and organization; time management; working memory; regulation and impulse control; and engineering environments. These categories provide a cohesive foundation that's research-aligned, yet practical for everyday learning environments.

The book includes:

  • Examples of tools and accompanying images demonstrating each strategy.
  • Connections to relevant ISTE Standards for Educators and ISTE Standards for Students.
  • Practical, ready-to-use resources, including articles, videos and podcasts.
  • A companion website with curated digital resources and links to tools.
  • An Inclusive Strategies Implementation Journal to promote reflection on the book's ideas.

Part of a four-book series, Inclusive 52 Executive Functioning invites learners to participate in their own learning and make progress toward achieving personal learning goals.

Audience: K-12 educators, special educators, administrators
