About the Book

Picture a near-future America where three genetically enhanced individuals -Hua, Ganesh, and Molefi- find themselves on the run. They are fleeing not only a megalomaniacal U.S. president but also an army of AI killer robots determined to destroy the world. Their only ally is Ginger Rogers, a sentient AI robot fashioned after the iconic Hollywood star. Ginger must hide her gifted minority infants off the grid, where they grow into world-class inventors, athletes, and problem solvers. This fast-paced work of cinematic writing begins in a secret genetics lab in Mississippi, continues in other remote places, including the North Pole, and climaxes in the desolate remains of Vancouver, Canada. This gripping narrative follows our heroes as they discover their unique abilities, navigate their first romantic relationships, and face an AI apocalypse. Hua, Ganesh, and Molefi are beacons of resilience, inspiring anyone who champions the underdog. Their AI companion, Ginger, showcases the boundless potential of artificial intelligence and its capacity for good. William Patrick Martin has created a high-stakes adventure with a diverse cast of characters that brings a fresh perspective. With relatable characters struggling to survive in one godforsaken place after another, his story has the earmarks of a dystopian and post-apocalyptic science fiction classic. Decapitation Day is a rollercoaster of action and suspense and a commentary on the twin threats of artificial intelligence and authoritarianism. Readers will be on the edge of their seats as the story goes from nasty to nightmarish.

He has played many sports and especially loves recreational volleyball. Bill and Marianne, his wife and soulmate of 50 years, have traveled to many world destinations including the Amazon, Iceland, Egypt, Eastern Europe, the UK, the Mediterranean, and the West Indies.Bill's favorite quotation comes from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not."

Review :
"Melding together cutting-edge themes like artificial intelligence, robotics, and human genetic engineering, Decapitation Day delivers a unique twist by layering these elements upon current-day political themes. This thought-provoking book depicts a series of scientific breakthroughs that slip out of control in rapidly cascading fashion, as plans developed by forces for both good and evil go awry. Fans of Sci-Fi and Dystopian fiction will quickly find themselves absorbed in this fast-paced story and its core group of remarkable characters. Decapitation Day leaves readers guessing about the fate of mankind until the final action-packed chapters." - Sherry Knowlton, Author of Dead on the Delta and other award-winning suspense novels "Decapitation Day delivers a thrilling, thought-provoking, and imaginative journey through a near-future dystopia where technology, morality, and human resilience collide in a gripping battle for survival. The intricate plot is fueled by sharp dialogue and centered around the strong-willed protagonist, Ginger, and enriched by a diverse and memorable supporting cast. Each character plays a crucial role in driving the narrative forward, creating an immersive and captivating experience from start to finish. A must-read for those attuned to the alarming way fiction increasingly mirrors societal reality." - Kem-Laurin Lubin, Founder of Human Tech Futures and University of Waterloo AI Scholar "This smart, witty, and darkly humorous story will speak profoundly to readers who are thinking about the ways that technology, conservatism, and privilege might map the future." - Susan Campbell Bartoletti, award-winning author of Hitler Youth and They Called Themselves the KKK "Decapitation Day presents a thought-provoking exploration of artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, and the dangers of unchecked power. William Patrick Martin skillfully weaves together a complex plot filled with action, suspense, and moral dilemmas. The diverse cast of characters, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses, adds depth and realism to the story. Decapitation Day's exploration of the potential consequences of technological advancements and societal inequality is both timely and relevant." - Mary Walsh, award-winning author of Dragon Slayer, and 16 other multi-genre books "Like the works of Atwood and Butler, Martin's novel Decapitation Day reminds us that our nonfiction reality is fragile, our future malleable. A timely and thought-provoking read." - Lauren Wilson, author of The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide
