About the Book

An ancient evil lurks on the American frontier, and seven contestants from around the world must compete to eradicate it. In 1865, from a law office in Paris, seven ornate envelopesare sent to the most fearsome killers around the world, a samurai, sharpshooter, war hero, and serial killer among the recipients. Inside the gilded envelopes is a letter invitingeachof them to participate in the contest of a lifetime. On the cold plains of the American frontier there roams a beast. Killit and the million dollar prize is theirs. Despite mystery shrouding the competition's host, each man agrees to participate. But when the contestants arrive for the hunt, they soon realize there's more to this Contest than meets the eye. Strange sounds float across the plains, warning of an otherworldly threat. Their target is not a mere animal but a fearsome beast of legend hunting them in return. Can the contestants survive the cold, creatures, and each other long enough to kill the beast? Or will they soon find they were right to fear the dark?

Review :
“Fans of Preston & Child's Pendergast series will find much to love in The Contest from David Golemon. Taut pacing and compelling, interwoven backstories combine in this western with a twist to keep you up all...freaking...night!” —Rick Chesler, author of the Tara Shores Thriller series “Golemon has done it again! The Contest’s blend of history and thrills will keep fans of the Event Group series and new readers alike turning the page deep into the night!” —Thunder Levin, screenwriter of the Sharknado TV movies “As a longtime fan of Golemon, I was hooked from the first page: The Contest delivers relentless tension, a cast of morally grey characters, and an atmosphere so unsettling it pulls you in like a haunting legend straight out of America's dark frontier past. If you’re looking for a supernatural thriller that keeps your pulse pounding and your mind on a quest for answers, the hunt is over: this is the one from the master of the genre.” —Jeffrey Kafer, original narrator of The Supernaturals and co-owner of High Gravity Productions “Tooth and claw above the rest! The Contest is a perfect blend of folklore, horror, and adventure. It should be quintessential reading for all David Golemon fans! For those unfamiliar, this book is a testimony to Golemon’s mastery of the art of storytelling!” —J. Kent Holloway, international bestselling author of Death Warmed Over
