About the Book

PostgreSQL has become a leading platform for mission-critical applications, but successful production deployments require far more than basic database administration. This book provides a practical guide to upgrading, scaling, protecting, integrating, and optimizing PostgreSQL in modern enterprise environments.

You will learn how to perform PostgreSQL minor and major version upgrades, design highly available architectures, implement switchover and failover strategies, configure logical replication, and deploy resilient Patroni clusters. The book also explores distributed PostgreSQL with Citus for horizontal scalability, Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines using PostgreSQL, Kafka, Debezium, and Docker, and practical performance tuning for production workloads.

Each chapter combines architectural concepts with hands-on implementation, step-by-step configuration guidance, troubleshooting techniques, best practices, and real-world scenarios, helping you move from routine PostgreSQL administration to managing highly available, scalable, and performance-optimized production environments.

What You Will Learn
