Paul W. Syltie was raised on a crop and dairy farm in southwestern Minnesota, where he learned the joys of living within a closely knit family structure and of the natural world. Leaving the farm life, he achieved a Ph.D. in soil fertility, then joined a team in agricultural research and consulting to spread the good news of biological agriculture to many countries. He is an Army veteran who has been married for fifty-eight years to the love of his life, Sandy, with whom he has enjoyed the increase of six children, fifteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
