About the Book

Synopsis: It recounts the trip to the Moon by the two main protagonists: the impoverished businessman Mr. Bedford, and the brilliant but eccentric scientist Dr. Cavor, the creator of an anti-gravitational substance (obtained from Helium and molten metals) to the one he baptizes as cavorite. With it they cover a rudimentary spaceship that, in this way, ascends without weight in the direction of the Moon; upon arrival they discover that it is inhabited by an extraterrestrial civilization, which inhabits the caverns of the subsoil, which they decide to call "selenites". The First Men on the Moon is one of the best known works of its author, the pioneer of science fiction H. G. Wells.Biography of H. G. WellsBritish writer and philosopher, H. G. Wells was one of the first writers of science fiction, a genre with which he managed to become a classic of anticipatory literature. Born in 1866, he held various jobs and began training in Biology. Due to his lack of financial resources, it took him several years to graduate. Soon after, due to physical problems, he decided to dedicate himself to writing constantly. His work is prolific, with more than a hundred books and a multitude of stories, and in it we can find both science fiction works, such as The War of the Worlds (1898) or The Time Machine (1895) -both taken to the cinema in more on one occasion-, such as works of a social nature, Tono Bungay (1909), or focused on the study of history. Of strong political convictions, H.G. Wells defended the possibility of a utopian society, and harshly criticized politicians and leaders, especially in relation to armed conflicts and world wars. Wells died in London on August 13, 1946
