About the Book

The majority of leopard geckos available today are native to the desert regions of Afghanistan, Iran, India, and Pakistan. Leopard geckos have been bred in Canada since the 1970s and are now quite common. It is easier to breed geckos than to import new geckos. Breeding leopard geckos is quite easy, many breeders have created new geckos with unique sizes, colors, and other traits that make them popular among reptile enthusiasts. It is not easy to determine the exact age of a leopard gecko since its growth and size depends on breeding, genetic characteristics, health and diet. It is not uncommon to see a leopard gecko's color change as it ages. The Mack Snow leopard gecko, for example, will develop a yellowish color as it ages. Most baby leopard geckos will have bands on their bodies instead of spots. As it grows, it will develop into spots. This will usually happen when the leopard gecko is one year old. So if your gecko still has bands and no spots, chances are it is still under a year old. How long do leopard geckos live Leopard geckos can live up to 20 years or more if their owner takes good care of them by ensuring they have a good diet, suitable habitat, and monitoring their health. There have been cases of leopard geckos living up to 30 years of age, but although this is possible it is usually rare for them to reach this age. Leopard geckos in the wild will have a much shorter lifespan due to predators, disease, and injury that are generally avoided when kept as pets. Leopard geckos are one of the most popular animals in the lizard family. They are sturdy, easy to maintain, require little space, and have a long lifespan that make them an ideal companion for families. They make great first pets and can easily be bred to create babies of different colors and sizes, making them ideal for experienced reptile owners as well. They only feed on insects, so their diet is not complicated like other reptiles such as bearded dragons, and they are very docile and can be manipulated without worrying about aggression. Their natural environment is difficult: high temperatures and weeks without food or water. Leopard geckos are adapted to survive where other animals cannot. This makes the leopard gecko extremely robust and it also explains why many people believe that they are so easy to care for and take care of as pets. Facts about the leopard gecko When agitated, the leopard gecko barks. The leopard gecko uses its tail as an emergency fat and water supply. When confronted with a predator or if attacked, the leopard gecko will let go of its tail to give the predator a distraction and escape. The tail of the leopard gecko will eventually grow back. Unlike other geckos, leopard geckos don't have sticky gills (sticky pads on their paws) and have few claws instead. That's why you can keep a leopard gecko in a cage without worrying about it escaping. They have an unusual anatomy. With the right angle, you can look in one ear, see through their head, and see their other ear. Want more Tips on Leopard Gecko Care? Then get a copy of this book.
