About the Book

Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll Alice sat in a chair scolding her kitten when she noticed the other world in the side mirror. She decided to explore this world and as soon as she stepped inside she found a place like But very different from her home She encounters a smiling clock, moving chess pieces, and a book with reverse text. But intending to see all this amazing new location before she had to return, she abandoned the living room and went outside. After a tumultuous run in the garden, a talking flower leads Alice to the Red Queen, who tells Alice she's part of the giant chess game. Alice's goal is to become the queen herself, and the Red Queen orders her that she must start in this second square and inevitably reach the eighth square in order for this resolution to come true. She also describes the backward nature of life in the world. Looking-Glass Alice jumped over the first creek leading her on her first adventure. She found herself in a chariot full of animals, and as she crossed the next stream, she realized that she was alone, with an expander from the chariot. She meets the next Tweedledie and Tweedledum, who dances, recites poetry and spats. She was rushing into the shop, which turned into a boat, and then back into the shop. In that store was an egg that was converted to Humpty Dumpty. The soldiers arrived at Humpty Dumpty's walls with them, noticing the White King, with whom she traveled to town to watch the battle of lions and unicorns. After sharing the cake with an observer, she finds herself alone in the forest until two knights join the fight to determine who will put her in jail. The victor, the Red Knight, leads her to the stream, the last obstacle to being her queen. Alice jumps over the last stream to the eighth square. Alice is joined by the Red and White Queen, who disappoints her with an impossible answer. She attended a party that was being celebrated in her honor. But things soon started to go wrong, and suddenly the Red Queen was her kitten, and she returned to her living room. Alice wondered who had ever dreamed of it during her adventures in the world.
