Break Free from Habits of Sin: What the Cross of Christ Avails to You

Sin is of the devil. He uses it as a weapon to destabilize the believer and break his or her fellowship with the Father-God; he uses it as a tool to expand his kingdom of darkness, whereupon he can spread sickness and pain, fear and disillusionment, lack and despondency and eventually misery and death. The cunningness of the devil is unbeknown to many believers who have fallen victim to his schemes, and many have ended up as his slaves, serving the master of all transgressions and disobedience. The havoc caused by sin in the lives of believers is at a higher level today than at any other time in Christian history. The fraternizing of many a believer with sin is even more surprising. Sin has left in its wake devastation of untold magnitude in the church and has continued to spread its stinging tentacles into the very veins and ligaments of Christ's earthly body. It has not only made its home in the pews but has now taken over pulpits directing songs and sermons. The message of holiness and purity has been set aside, and the prophecy is fulfilled that says, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."
