About the Author :
Daniel Tibi, OSB, JCD, is a Benedictine monk of Kornelimünster Abbey in Aachen and professor of canon law at University of Salzburg. His interests focus on law of religious institutes. In addition to his academic work, he also works as a consultant in this area.

Review :
“Daniel Tibi provides a thorough discussion and review of the canons which apply to institutes of consecrated life. Of particular value may be the sections with background and application of the norms to be observed when difficulties arise around a member’s status or when hierarchical recourse is needed. The text is a good complement to the different handbooks, especially by the professional societies of canon law, that exist. Tibi’s work serves as a good refresher as well as a source for changes in the canons on consecrated life that have occurred since the 1983 Code was promulgated.” Lynn Jarrell, OSU, JCD “Daniel Tibi has written a concise, up-to-date, and easy-to-read commentary on the canons applicable to religious life. He understands the differences between the various expressions of religious life and how the canons apply within the context of the various expressions. Leadership will find very helpful the excellent summaries and listings of materials required for seeking approvals and indults from the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.” Dan Ward, OSB, JCL, JD “Canon lawyer Daniel Tibi, OSB, offers an accessible commentary to the canonical norms on consecrated life in the Roman Catholic Church. It includes all changes in the law that have come about over the past forty years. A valuable commentary for those living in consecrated life as well as to those in leadership and their advisors be it within a religious institute or a diocese.” Myriam Wijlens, professor of canon law, University of Erfurt, and member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors (2018-2022)
