About the Book

This culmination of daily scriptural rumination's was born out of a place of deep pain and great hope. What started as a simple pre-dawn sharing of scriptural encouragement with my two brothers (following the loss of my 24 year old son, and my older brother's wife in the late fall of 2018) turned into a daily blessing to help us understand the tragedies that took place. I started to share these with my children, then a close brother in Christ who also lost his 23 year old son three months after Michael, another young dad needing encouragement and slowly it grew into what it is today reaching many friends and friends of friends in need of encouragement. After more than five years of writing daily "rumination's" and texting them out, one copy, one paste, and one send, at time, you now hold a portion of this labor of love in your hands. May these "Rational Rumination's" bless and enrich your walk with Christ as much as they have enriched and blessed my walk with Him in writing them.

About the Author :
Dr. Michael Detweiler was raised on a small farm in rural central Illinois, raising cattle and loving it, growing Christmas Trees and begrudging it. Thankfully all that work took place outdoors in God's original Cathedral, and he relished in it! His "rational" approach to physical and spiritual minded "wellness" comes from the only unshakable foundation we will ever know, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the direction found only in His Word.Doc's journey in becoming a "Rational Ruminating Writer" comes from a very broad and quite unique resume. A resume which includes farm hand, landscaper, janitor, carpenter, chiropractic physician, acupuncturist, functional medicine practitioner, rotational grazing rancher of cattle, sheep, water buffalo and a voracious reader. Having earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree over 30 years ago he will tell you that he is still working on his Ph. D in life. That advanced degree of life eduction is acquired by traveling through the bumps, bruises, knocks, scrapes, challenges, trials, and tribulations in life, and keeping our relationship with Christ out front. As his beautiful bride, Dr. Susan Detweiler will tell you, "our journey through life towards our graduation to Jesus, is a process of progress, not a pathway of perfection." Doc currently resides in the Ozark's of Missouri managing a 4,000 acre regenerative organic ranch, grazed by cattle and Water Buffalo. He is the father of five, papaw to six and the most blessed man around being married to a Proverbs 31 lady! His prayer is that these "Rational Rumination's" bless, encourage, uplift and humor you. And most importantly, may they point you towards a vibrant and living faith in Jesus Christ, and a desire to dig deeply into the rich spiritual soil of His Word for your nourishment and sustenance.

Review :
"To a man that I don't know and have never met. You give me great inspiration every day when I read your writings, thank you so much Doc! God bless you and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide you in your mission to reach the lost. Doc, keep it coming, buddy. It's wonderful." "I have been reading Dr. Detweiler's Devotionals for several years now and enjoy them immensely. I find the scriptures accurate and the lesson something personal that I can relate to. They not only continue my education in the bible, but they are a reminder of how we are to be in the word each and every day. They alway contain a life lesson, one that each of us can relate to. They also contain a challenge that each of us should do as part of our growth. I can think of no better way to start your day than with Dr. Detweiler and his Devotions." "Few people truly can approach caring for the human body holistically, even fewer can do the same for animals, and only a handful can offer care and truth to the soul. Dr Michael is rare in his collection of experience and skill. His devotional writings reflect the breadth and depth of his understanding, while retaining the honest heart of someone who has dedicated his life to seeing humans, animals and ecosystems thrive. The result is a collection of writings that provide a multi-faceted, well-informed, and engaging examination of scripture. These are the kinds of writings that help you put your heart where your faith is and move forward on the ancient path to a wellness far beyond simple biological and chemical explanations: a wellness of the soul." "The words of Dr. Michael reveal the healing power of God's Word for the mind, body and soul. His passionate and practical approach gives the reader the encouragement and wise challenge to rise up and walk for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One is reminded of the healing only He can give!" "I have been reading Dr Michaels daily devotions for over a year now. They are thought provoking and well as inspiring and encouraging. Thank you Dr. M for using your gift. " "I'm so grateful for the thought Dr. Michael puts into his devotionals. Not only does he give a detailed explanation of a Scripture passage, but connects it to life, culture, health, politics, and history. Reading these devotionals has given me a deeper love for the Word of God and challenged me to live out my faith." "Dr. Michael has a wonderful way of helping us take Biblical Truth and apply it in a very practical way. I have thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from these devotionals. As the title so nicely illustrates, I find myself "chewing" on the principles and stories throughout the day." "Dr Michael takes a practical look at scripture for the Christian living in America today. The principles taught in the text are drawn out in a way that helps the reader apply them to everyday life."
