About the Book

The brain is the only organ we treat without seeing-a failure (born of historical necessity) that continues to affect everyone touched by the mental health system. Making the Invisible Visible shows how modern neuroscience is changing that, allowing us to see, measure, and improve brain function. Clinician and brain imaging expert Anthony Silver strikes a rare balance: engaging and clear, yet passionate and profound. Drawing on decades of experience, he reveals how quantitative EEG (qEEG) and neurofeedback radically change the way we understand and can treat conditions like ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, trauma and concussion. Blending science, clinical insight, and human stories, this book challenges the trial-and-error model of psychiatry and offers a vision of care that is precise, compassionate, and transformative. Making the Invisible Visible speaks to anyone who believes we can, and must, do better.

About the Author :
Anthony Silver is the founder and director of Gray Matters, formed in 2008 to integrate advances in neuroscience into the way we diagnose and treat the brain. Starting with a search for a better way to help his son, Anthony has become one of the world's foremost experts in qEEG brain mapping and neurofeedback. He has now treated tens of thousands of patients over almost two decades and is one of around 100 clinicians in the world awarded Diplomate status by the International qEEG Certification Board.Anthony has played a pioneering role in the integration of functional brain imaging (qEEG) into mental health, making Gray Matters a center for both treatment and research. He is passionate about integrating qEEG brain recording into day-to-day mental health.Anthony has been a guest lecturer at various universities, been published in numerous journals, newspapers and magazines, and made many appearances on TV. He is a frequent contributor to the New York Times and is one of a handful of qEEG clinicians selected each year to present qEEG to the annual meeting of the Society of Brain Mapping and Therapeutics, a nonprofit formed as a collaboration between NASA, JPL-USC Keck School of Medicine, and Caltech, to "break boundaries in healthcare". He is a recognized expert in forensic cases, expert witness and an invited speaker to the Connecticut Bar Association.Anthony lives in Westport CT. with his partner, Sophie, an accomplished artist. Between them, they have six children and two dogs.
