About the Book

In a fractured world ravaged by war and ancient forces, Rake, a determined scavenger, and Bastia, a fierce leader, as they navigate the remnants of Earth, now known as Urath. The planet, once teeming with life, is now a wasteland ruled by corrupt Agrilords. Resources are dwindling, ancient tech is scattered across the planet, and threats are lurking in every shadow. Survivors are forced to navigate this treacherous life or face the reality of extinction. Rake, a skilled scavenger, is no stranger to the dangers of this harsh world. His quest for survival leads him to mysterious remnants of the Ancestors, an ancient race whose psychic abilities and powerful technologies have the potential to reshape humanity's future. However, the more he learns about the Ancestors knowledge, the more risk it poses. Not just to himself, but to the very fabric of civilization. Bastia, a fierce leader, leads Battalion 17, a group of misfit, battle-hardened warriors who fight for survival and a glimmer of hope. Once a simple farm girl, Bastia now leads her ragtag group through relentless battles against the Agrilords, corrupt factions, and monstrous creatures that roam the wastelands. When Rake and Bastia's paths cross, they realize that their destinies are intertwined. Together, they uncover the secrets hidden beneath the surface of Urath-fragments of Ancestor technology and knowledge that could either ignite a new era for humanity or trigger its demise. Although they don't want this power for themselves, that can't be said for everyone. Nefer Thul, a cold and calculating leader, seeks to harness the psychic abilities of the Ancestors to build his own empire, an empire ruled by fear and oppression. With the stakes higher than ever, each passing day it becomes more evident that the future of humanity depends on the choices made today. Joining with unlikely allies-mutants, mercenaries, and survivors-Rake and Battalion 17 rage across the world in battles against Nefer Thul's forces. Every decision could mean life or death as Nefer Thul slowly begins closing in on Rake. The true cost of survival becomes apparent, and with each victory, the scars grow deeper and the line between friend and foe blurs. They cannot win this war alone; they must rely on the strength of their comrades no matter how fractured their alliances may be. Their battles are not just physical-it's a war of wills, ideologies, and the enduring question of what it means to remain human in a world on the brink of collapse.

About the Author :
Gregory Burgess was born in San Francisco and raised in the natural beauty of Marin County, California. From an early age, he was drawn to writing and it quickly became a driving force in his life as it provided an outlet for his creative energy. When he graduated from high school, Gregory embarked on a life-changing adventure by sailing around the world. The experience was transformative and offered him a unique perspective on various cultures and human spirits. As he sailed across the Pacific, he was struck by the vastness of the world and how humanity's struggle mirrored the unpredictability of the sea. The journey shaped not only his worldview but also his creative vision, which he later used as inspiration for his writing. Since his journey around the world, Gregory has gained experience in many fields of work. He volunteered as an English teacher in Indonesia, worked in special education in the U.S., and served as a public health officer for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Despite his busy professional life, Gregory has always maintained a strong connection to the Bay Area. He enjoys sailing in the San Francisco Bay as it serves as a constant source of inspiration. Gregory also has a close-knit family and takes pride in all their achievements. Though never married, his deep connection with his family has provided him with a sense of fulfillment and joy. In contrast to his rapidly changing careers, writing has remained a constant passion for Gregory. His adventures, professional experiences, and personal journeys have heavily influenced his work. He strongly believes storytelling holds the power to inspire and connect people. He has dedicated his life to creating stories that explore themes of human resilience, discovery, and the relationships between humanity and the world. His life story is a testament to the importance of adventure, learning, and personal growth. Gregory hopes to continue sharing his stories with the world for many years to come.
