About the Book

The novel, "Stardust & Rust: Echoes of the Past," describes the journey of a city called Veridia, formerly known as the City of Ash, as its inhabitants emerge from generations of living under manufactured smog and discover the true sky. The narrative follows Scrap, a leader on the Provisional Council, as Veridia transitions from isolation to becoming part of a larger, interconnected world. Key elements of the story include: * The Awakening: The novel begins with the first full sunrise over Veridia, signifying the dissipation of the smog and the beginning of a new era of freedom for its inhabitants, who had previously only seen the sky through holographic projections. * Technological Discoveries: Jett, a mechanic with knowledge of salvaged technology, and Lyra, from the Sky Pockets, work together to understand and utilize the Star-Tapestry, an ancient device that reveals other survivor communities across the globe. * External Threats: The discovery of a "red anomaly" on the Star-Tapestry, identified as a hostile "war station" called the "Silent Wards," introduces an external threat to Veridia's newfound peace. * Internal Conflicts: The city faces internal division and fear, particularly with the resurfacing of old Council propaganda and the discovery of "Project Chimera," a dark genetic manipulation experiment involving children in stasis pods. A former Council administrator, Theron, attempts to exploit these fears to seize power. * Secrets of the Past: Jett uncovers a hidden communication log revealing a pact between the early Council and an entity called "The Conduit," which involved the creation of bio-engineered beings for an unspecified purpose. This ties into Theron's attempt to reactivate "The Sleeper," a colossal machine hidden in Sector 5. * Reconciliation and Unity: Scrap confronts her father, who was believed lost and is revealed to be involved with "The Sleeper". His intervention against Theron and subsequent explanations begin a process of healing and understanding between them and within the city. The novel emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the blending of cultures between Veridia and the Sky Pockets. * A New Galactic Threat: The story concludes with Veridia receiving a message from the "Federated Worlds," offering an alliance against an encroaching threat known as "The Shadow," hinting at a larger galactic conflict.
