Each scene will help you work on your emotional range as an actor, learning how to transition between emotional objectives with your scene partner, whether it's a slow build-up or a sharp shift into a moment of heartache within your on-screen relationship.
The scenes average 1-2 minutes of potential screen time, leaving you plenty of room to capture the strongest 20-40 seconds of footage for your showreel. As you may know, agents and casting directors are rarely keen to spend too much time watching drawn-out scenes for auditions. Quite possibly, just one powerful moment will showcase your skills and make them want you on their books or in their next production.
Be brave, be bold, and let them witness your heart break right in front of them.
In this paperback edition, a blank page has been added on the left of each scene title page for you to write notes, attach pages, or add Post-it notes, keeping the script page clear. Feel free to rework the scenes and dialogue to suit your needs.
There are four scenes each for: two males, two females, and male & female pairings. It's always best to showcase at least three scenes on a showreel, comprising a mix of scene partner genders and demonstrating your ability to portray believable on-screen relationships.
The scenes touch on relationships between brothers, lovers, work colleagues, and adversaries. Agents need to see chemistry between characters, as well as your vulnerable side, even when you're playing the antagonist. Always make sure you understand the emotional objectives of both characters and the dynamics of their relationship.
