About the Book

We live in an era where knowledge has never been so accessible, where with a single click we can access information that previous generations could only have dreamed of possessing. Paradoxically, however, we are increasingly dependent on technology to solve what used to come naturally to human beings: thinking, questioning and learning. We find ourselves at a historical crossroads, where technological progress, instead of propelling us towards a higher evolution, seems to be facilitating the opposite process: a silent but accelerated involution.
Artificial intelligence is here to stay, algorithms decide what we see and what we think, and instant answers replace the process of reasoning and learning. Are we getting smarter or, on the contrary, are we atrophying our mental capacities? Is it really progress if we think less and less for ourselves?
This book is not a critique of technology, nor a call for nostalgia for times past. It is an analysis of how the excess of comfort, the abuse of artificial intelligence, poor nutrition, the lack of social interaction and the abandonment of intellectual effort affect our ability to think, to question and to evolve as a species. It is an invitation to reflect, to question ourselves if we are really moving forward or if, without realizing it, we are giving up our ability to be human in the deepest sense of the word.

Since ancient times, human beings have faced challenges that have forced them to surpass themselves, to develop skills, to build knowledge from experience and effort. But today, we live in a world where fewer and fewer people have the patience to read an entire book, to solve a mathematical problem without the help of a calculator, or to remember information without relying on a smart device. We are moving towards total dependence on technology, and the price we are paying is the gradual loss of our cognitive abilities and our autonomy as individuals.
If intelligence has historically been the engine of human evolution, today it seems that convenience and immediacy are undermining that intelligence. We are facing a generation that prefers speed to reflection, superficial entertainment to deep thought, and immediate response over critical analysis. And this, far from being a simple cultural change, may be the beginning of an involutionary process that leads us to lose the skills that have defined us as humans.
Throughout these pages, we will explore how we have reached this point and what are the consequences of this intellectual and social decline. We will analyze the impact of diet, education, technology, lack of physical exercise and reduced social interaction on the development of human intelligence. And, above all, we will ask the most important question: can we reverse this process or have we already crossed a threshold of no return?
The evolution of involution is real and is happening in front of our eyes. It is time to wake up, to rethink our relationship with technology and knowledge, and to decide whether we want to remain the masters of our destiny or whether we prefer to cede that control to the machines.
This book does not seek to provide definitive answers, but to open a debate that each of us must face. Because the future of humanity will not depend on machines, but on our ability to resist the temptation of absolute comfort and recover the critical thinking, creativity and intelligence that make us truly human.
