Welcome to Digging Deeper-my personal journal chronicling a year-long journey through Scripture. It began on a frosty Sunday in January 2025, when my pastor stood at the pulpit, his Bible in one hand, a stack of papers in the other. "This year," he announced, his voice filling the sanctuary, "I'm inviting each of you to join me in reading God's Word cover to cover." He distributed reading schedules, each day's passage requiring just half an hour of quiet reflection. By December, those who persevere will have traversed territories of Scripture that many of us-myself certainly included-have never fully explored.
I took on the challenge; but knowing human nature to start a resolution only to let it fall to the wayside within a couple of months, I needed a system, something that wouldn't let me off the hook so easily.
Such was the inspiration for Digging Deeper-my anchor of accountability throughout the year. Beyond keeping promises to myself, once I declared my intentions, I now also felt a responsibility to my social media followers and readers of my previous works. The project first took root on Patreon, where each week I would immerse myself in assigned Scripture, then craft reflections on verses that resonated or stirred something within me. This weekly practice became my spiritual touchstone, and what you hold now represents the complete collection of those devotional writings that once existed only in digital form.
I created this book because I want to invite you on the same journey I took. There's no need to wait for January 1st like I did-this adventure can begin whenever you're ready. The only requirement is commitment: follow the path for 52 weeks, and you'll have traveled through every page of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
Every week opens with selected Scripture for your meditation. After each reading, I've shared the insights and reflections these sacred words stirred within my own heart. At the end of each weekly installment, you'll find space awaiting your own wisdom-blank lines inviting your personal journey with the text.
