About the Book

Changing perspectives changes the way we see the world and changes lives. Roger Breisch knows this as well as anyone, after speaking with more than 11,000 callers on suicide crisis lines over 20 years and working with thousands of teens in an alcohol and drug prevention program.

In Seeing Another Way you will encounter stories in which people saw themselves and their lives in new ways. One caller to a crisis line, tainted by a narrow and wounded self-image, said, "I forget to look at myself through the eyes of people who love me. Thank you for helping me see and appreciate that perspective." Too often we forget that others can see us in ways we either cannot, or we deny.
Every thought, idea, and assumption directs the future. Whenever we discover a new perspective, whenever we allow assumptions to evaporate, new worlds open before us. To the extent we allow those to change, flex, and become permeable, the future itself changes, becomes flexible, permeable, and new. In the process we see ourselves and our lives in new ways and gain confidence moving into the future. These insights come about through the power of questions, many of which you will discover in the book.

In high school, Roger hated writing and believed himself to be a poor writer. In his early twenties, when completing applications for business school, he gave his essays to English teachers at a local high school, expecting critical feedback and radical revisions. However, they returned the essays saying, "We loved them. Don't change a word." Since that moment Roger has published hundreds of essays, written three books, and delivered three TEDx Talks. Changing his own perspective changed his life.

All profits from this book will go to suicide prevention.
