About the Book

"Students with ADHD: A Parent's Guide to Quick and Simple Solutions" is a comprehensive resource written by Dr. Chrishell Lewis, an experienced educator with over 30 years of experience working with students with ADHD. This practical guide provides parents with evidence-based strategies to help their children thrive at home, in school, and beyond.

Drawing on decades of classroom experience and collaboration with numerous families, Dr. Lewis offers actionable solutions that can be implemented immediately. The book comprises eleven essential chapters, covering topics such as understanding ADHD basics, building supportive home environments, communicating effectively with schools and teachers, fostering focus and attention, managing emotions and impulsivity, and strategies for academic success.

Each chapter features real-life scenarios based on students and families Dr. Lewis has worked with, offering relatable examples that guide parents through everyday challenges. The "Parent Power" sections provide quick and simple solutions that fit into busy family schedules, while dispelling common myths about ADHD and reframing it as a unique way of processing the world rather than a deficit.

The guide emphasizes celebrating children's strengths such as creativity, passion, energy, and resilience, while providing practical tools for organization, emotional regulation, and building family relationships. Dr. Lewis covers essential topics such as nutrition, sleep, exercise, and leveraging technology appropriately, as well as creating collaborative partnerships with educators to ensure children receive the necessary accommodations and support.

Written with empathy and understanding, this book serves as both an educational resource and a source of encouragement for parents who sometimes feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start. Dr. Lewis reminds parents that they are their child's most outstanding advocate and ally, providing them with the confidence and tools needed to help their children succeed and reach their full potential.

About the Author :
Chrishell Lewis, EdD, MS, is an educator, author, and trauma recovery advocate whose powerful memoir, Trauma, Tragedy, & Triumph: Discovering God in the Midst of It All, offers hope and healing to survivors of childhood trauma and abuse. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Lewis overcame extraordinary challenges, including childhood sexual abuse, family violence, and eating disorders, to become a beacon of hope for countless others walking similar paths. Her journey from trauma survivor to triumphant overcomer is a testament to God's redemptive power and the human spirit's resilience. With nearly three decades of experience in education, Dr. Lewis has served as a bilingual teacher, an advocate for students with diverse learning needs, and a champion for underserved communities. She earned her Doctorate in Education and has dedicated her career to believing in students others might overlook-a passion born from her own childhood struggles with Graves' disease and being misunderstood in the classroom. Dr. Lewis's heart for global missions led her to serve in El Salvador, France, Morocco, and Spain over the course of eleven transformative years. Her missionary work with diverse communities, including serving as co-youth pastor at an all-Hispanic church in Texas, reflects her belief that God's love transcends all boundaries. As a survivor who found the courage to break generational cycles of abuse, Dr. Lewis brings both personal experience and professional expertise to trauma recovery. Her story was catalyzed by an Oprah Winfrey Show episode that gave her the words to name her expertise and the courage to speak up, ultimately helping to free her family from a decades-long pattern of abuse. Married to her husband Killrain, Dr. Lewis is also a devoted mother. Together, they have navigated the complexities of healing within marriage and family life, proving that love can indeed triumph over trauma when grounded in faith and commitment to growth. Dr. Lewis currently resides in Texas, where she continues her work in education and trauma advocacy.
